Low-Rise Jeans
From the very low to the very high-end of the retail spectrum, one of the most common articles of clothing one can count on to be in every collection, are low-rise jeans. No matter the season, it will most certainly be a staple in the wardrobe of the female species. More recently, young boys and men have also started wearing this popular style of jeans.
Women love low-rise jeans because they lengthen the torso, creating a more flattering figure. However, ultra jeans should be worn with caution since they sit extremely low on the hips and are more flattering on slimmer physiques. The hip fit is the most important thing to remember when choosing these type jeans. If you can find one that fits well on the hips but is loose on the waist, have the waist altered instead. Having excess skin or fat in the tummy area can be a problem with them. To hide the bulge, wear shirts or blouse that fall at or below the waist and make sure that they are not too tight. Flowing tops look better, particularly with these types of jeans. If you are not comfortable or are a bit self-conscious about keeping your pants in place, wear a belt. Thick belts look best with low-rise jeans.
Wearing low-rise jeans, especially ultra low-rise, can sometimes cause wardrobe malfunctions. To avoid these, wear the right underwear. Due to the popularity of these jeans, low waist panties have also become popular. Another better choice would be low rise thongs especially made for low-rise jeans or trousers. For men, these types of jeans are generally not normally recommended. Men look best wearing jeans that hit right below their natural waist line. Leave the low-rise jeans to male models. Still, there are low-rise options for men that are not as dramatic as women’s styles.
Generally, these jeans are not flattering or comfortable on plus-sized women. However, there are certain blends of polyester and stretch that are more comfortable than the usual denim that may suit plus-sized women. For a more balanced figure, opt for flared or boot cut styles as opposed to skinny.
Petite women should be more vigilant on selecting the right pair of low-rise jeans since it might make their hips look bigger and legs shorter. Just because we see models in most ads wearing low-rise or ultra low-rise jeans, looking so good and sexy, does not mean they are for everyone. Mid-rise and high-rise jeans can look just as good, if not better, paired with the right top and shoes. Accessories complete the look. And as we all know, the most important accessory in our arsenal is confidence.
Nevertheless, if you are still hell bent on wearing these types of jeans in the future and look good in them, the full proof method that has worked in the past and will surely work in the future, are exercise and a proper diet. A toned body, no matter if you are tall or petite, will look good in the right pair of low-rise jeans.
